This is the twin with everything on it. The mattress sits at floor level, low rails run along the sides with an opening to climb through, and the shelf at the foot puts the books, the nightlight and the water cup within arm's reach without getting out of bed. One piece of furniture, the whole bedtime routine.

Sapiens Child builds it in Vancouver from maple and birch plywood, where the quality control happens in house, and the wood you choose above, birch or maple, changes the finish and the price, nothing else.

What you are getting

A twin size floor bed at ground level A standard twin mattress sits low to the floor, in a bed sized to last well beyond the toddler years.
Rails along the sides Low rails give a new twin sleeper an edge to settle against, with an opening to climb in and out on their own.
The shelf at the foot Two adjustable shelves with four height options hold 40 lbs, a built in nightstand for the bedtime pile.
A slatted base for airflow The slats keep the mattress lifted and air moving underneath. No box spring, nothing else to buy.

Certification, as stated by Sapiens Child

CARB 2 certified wood Sapiens Child states the bed is made with CARB 2 certified wood, the California standard for formaldehyde emissions in composite wood.
Plywood, never plastic Sapiens Child builds this bed from maple and birch plywood with rounded edges, and no plastic parts.

Overall size 85.6 x 41.45 in
Overall height 12.25 in
Weight capacity 200 lbs, rated per slat
Dimensions and fit

The frame sits longer than the mattress because of the shelf at the foot, so measure the wall you have in mind against the overall size, not the mattress size.

Materials and certification

The frame is maple and birch plywood with rounded edges and no plastic parts. Maple is hand varnished with subtly tinted edges. Birch comes pre finished with a clear coat that shows the grain of each plywood layer.

Sapiens Child states the bed is made with CARB 2 certified wood, the California standard for formaldehyde emissions in composite wood.

Each bed is made in Vancouver, Canada, where Sapiens Child does its quality control in house.

Certification information is supplied by the manufacturer. Email us and we will request the documents on your behalf.

Assembly and care

Assembly is required and the manual is in the box. Two people and an unhurried hour is the comfortable way to do it. Follow the manufacturer's manual for placement, clearances and any age guidance.

Wipe the frame with a damp cloth and dry it. Check the fixings every few months and after the bed has been moved, and retighten anything that has worked loose.

Shipping and returns

Free shipping across Canada and the contiguous USA. Orders leave us in 1 to 5 business days.

No customs duty to either country.

30 days to return it from the day it arrives. Return shipping is paid by you unless the fault is ours, and there is no restocking fee.

Birch or maple

The construction, the dimensions, the standards and the weight ratings are identical. The differences are the finish and the price, shown in the picker above. Maple is hand varnished with subtly tinted edges for a lighter, more uniform Scandinavian look. Birch comes pre finished with a clear coat that shows the natural grain of each plywood layer and runs slightly warmer in tone. Neither is the wrong answer.

Send us the measurements of the room and we will tell you honestly whether this size fits before you order. hello@truelittlenorth.com

A dash means that combination is not made. Rails keep early sleepers in. The shelf adds storage at the foot. Both can be on the same frame.

Questions parents ask

Is a mattress included?

No. Frames ship on their own so you can choose the mattress. The recommended mattress size for this frame is stated in the description above.

Rails, shelf, or both?

Rails suit younger sleepers still learning where the edge is. The shelf adds storage at the foot of the bed. The matrix above shows every combination this frame is made in, at its live price.

What age is this bed for?

We do not set our own age ratings. The manufacturer's guidance and the weight limit are on this page, and those are the numbers to follow.

Where is it made?

Sapiens Child designs and builds in Canada, and that is stated on every one of their product pages here.

How hard is assembly?

It arrives flat packed with fixings and instructions. Two people make it comfortable rather than rushing it alone, and assembly detail is on each product page.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are typically shipped within 1 to 5 business days with a tracking number by email. Transit time then depends on the courier and your address.

Will I be charged customs?

No. There is no customs duty on orders shipped within Canada or to the United States. Details in our shipping policy.

Can I split the payment?

Yes. Afterpay and Klarna both split it into 4 interest free payments over 6 weeks. Details on our Play Now & Pay Later page.

Not sure which setup fits the room?

Send us the measurements and your child's age, and we will tell you honestly which configuration works and which to skip.
