This is the smallest bed Sapiens Child makes, and for many families the first one. The crib mattress you already own sits at floor level, low rails hold a small sleeper gently in place, and the opening in the side means the morning starts on their terms, not when someone comes to lift them out.

It is made by hand in Vancouver by Sapiens Child from maple and birch plywood, and the wood you choose above, birch or maple, changes the finish and the price, nothing else.

What you are getting

A crib size floor bed at ground level Your standard crib mattress moves straight in at floor level. Nothing new to buy for the transition.

Rails along the sides Low rails keep a small sleeper snug, with an opening in the side to crawl in and out on their own.

The frame is maple and birch plywood with rounded corners and edges, and no plastic parts. Maple is hand varnished with subtly tinted edges. Birch comes pre finished with a clear coat that shows the grain of each plywood layer.

Assembly and care

The bed ships flat and the instructions are in the box. Sapiens Child rates the assembly at about 20 minutes. Follow the manufacturer's manual for placement, clearances and any age guidance.

Wipe the frame with a damp cloth and dry it. Check the fixings every few months and after the bed has been moved, and retighten anything that has worked loose.

No customs duty to either country.

30 days to return it from the day it arrives. Return shipping is paid by you unless the fault is ours, and there is no restocking fee.

Birch or maple

The construction, the dimensions, the standards and the weight ratings are identical. The differences are the finish and the price, shown in the picker above. Maple is hand varnished with subtly tinted edges for a lighter, more uniform Scandinavian look. Birch comes pre finished with a clear coat that shows the natural grain of each plywood layer and runs slightly warmer in tone. Neither is the wrong answer.

Is a mattress included?

No. Frames ship on their own so you can choose the mattress. The recommended mattress size for this frame is stated in the description above.

Rails, shelf, or both?

Rails suit younger sleepers still learning where the edge is. The shelf adds storage at the foot of the bed. The matrix above shows every combination this frame is made in, at its live price.

What age is this bed for?

We do not set our own age ratings. The manufacturer's guidance and the weight limit are on this page, and those are the numbers to follow.

It arrives flat packed with fixings and instructions. Two people make it comfortable rather than rushing it alone, and assembly detail is on each product page.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are typically shipped within 1 to 5 business days with a tracking number by email. Transit time then depends on the courier and your address.

Will I be charged customs?
