Interlocking foam tiles are cheap for a reason. The seams collect crumbs, the edges lift, and a determined toddler works out how to prise them apart and chew a corner. Then you are back to a hard floor with a baby learning to walk on it.

This is one continuous play mat instead. Three metres by 1.1 metres, 1.8cm thick, rolled rather than tiled, so there is nothing to come apart. It can be cut down to fit an awkward floor, and it wipes clean.

1.8cm underfoot Enough to take the sting out of a sit down landing during tummy time, crawling and the first weeks of walking. Thickness is what a baby actually feels, more than floor area.




Five layers, not one slab of foam Ggumbi builds it as a reinforced surface film, a PVC cushioning layer, a non-adhesive fold, dual structure PE foam for cushioning and sound, and a non-slip film underneath. The foam layer is the reason a dropped toy is quieter on this than on a bare floor.

Spills sit on top of it The surface film does not absorb, so juice, milk and worse stay on the surface until you wipe them off. No soaking, no smell working its way into the foam.

300 x 110cm, in one piece It arrives rolled and unrolls into a single sheet. No jigsaw seams to trap crumbs, no edges for a toddler to lift. Three metres is long enough to run the length of most living rooms.

Cut it to fit the room Around a chimney breast, under a radiator, along a bay window. A sharp blade and a straight edge is all it takes, and you can lay more than one to cover a whole floor. Measure twice. A cut mat cannot be returned.



Non-slip film underneath The bottom layer grips rather than skates, which is what you want on hardwood or tile when a toddler pushes off it to stand up.

Ggumbi Co., Ltd. make the mat in Korea. The materials are BPA free.

We name the layers plainly, including the PVC, rather than describing the whole mat by its foam.

Assembly and care

Unroll it and leave it flat for a day. Rolled mats hold a memory of the roll and settle out on their own. Lay it on a clean, dry floor so the non-slip film has something to grip.

To cut it to size, mark the line on the underside, use a straight edge and a sharp blade, and take two or three passes rather than trying to go through in one. Once you cut it we cannot take it back, so measure twice.

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Do not use solvents or abrasive pads on the surface film, since that is the layer doing the waterproofing.

Flat floor

Anti slip pads need an even surface. Thick pile rugs let the frame rock.

Clear the edges

Keep climbable furniture away, and check what a standing child can reach over.

Fit the band first

Band to the connector on the inside, then the mat. This is what stops gaps opening.

Still supervise

A playpen buys minutes, not permission to leave the room. See Safety First.

Before you buy

Questions we get asked

Does the playpen come with the mat?

No. They are sold separately and sized to pair. The playpen is the fence, the Licoco mat is the floor.

Which size do I need?

200 × 140cm takes one Licoco mat, 200 × 280cm takes two. The table above has the footprints in feet.

Will it slide on hardwood?

The connectors carry anti slip pads with a wide contact area. On the larger layout the anti loosening band makes a noticeable difference.

Can a toddler open the door?

The door uses a double lock button that has to be gripped and held rather than pushed.

How do I clean it?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Neither the PE frame nor the mat surface absorbs spills.
