A floor bed solves the problem most parents hit at the same moment. The crib stops holding them, but a raised frame puts a drop beside the bed. The Dream Raft is a Montessori floor bed that sits at ground level with rails on all four sides, so the sleeping surface is enclosed without being high up.

The gate lifts out when you no longer want it, and it can be fitted on either side, so the bed works against whichever wall suits the room. The whole frame stands 17 inches tall, low enough that most parents can lie down in it at bedtime.

Mattress made in Canada

The bed frame ships without a mattress, so you can buy it alone and use one you already have. Our Ary mattress set is manufactured in Canada and built to the 6 inch depth this bed is designed around. Check your size against the sleeping area below before ordering. Three pieces in the set:


Medium firm foam mattress. Supportive but not hard, for a child moving out of a crib.

Waterproof mattress cover. Breathable and soft. The part you will be glad of at 3am.

Bamboo infused pillow. Low profile, so it sits flat rather than propping the head up.

The foam is CertiPUR-US certified, which covers no flame retardants, no phthalates and no heavy metals.

Assembly and care

Assembly is required and the manual is in the box. The rails attach one bar at a time, so it takes longer than it looks. Two people and a free afternoon is the comfortable way to do it. Follow the manufacturer's manual for placement, clearances and any age guidance.

Wipe the frame with a damp cloth and dry it. Check the fixings every few months and after the bed has been moved, and retighten anything that has worked loose.

Place the bed less than 1.5 inches from the wall or at least 12 inches away, so a child cannot be trapped.

Is a mattress included?

No. Frames ship on their own so you can choose the mattress. The description above states the recommended size and depth for this model.

Do I need a box spring?

No. Slats are included and support the mattress directly.

How hard is assembly?

It arrives flat packed with a manual. Two people and a free afternoon is the comfortable way to do it rather than rushing it alone.

How long does delivery take?

Orders are typically shipped within 1 to 5 business days and you will get a tracking number by email. Transit time then depends on the courier, the size of the item and your address, so we do not quote a delivery date we cannot control.

What if a part is missing or damaged?

Contact us with your order number and a photo. We will arrange a repair or replacement part rather than making you return the whole item, and damage on arrival is not a case where you pay return shipping.

Can I return it?

Yes, within 30 days, unopened and unused in the original packaging, with return shipping at your expense. Full detail in our refund policy.

Can I split the payment?
